2017 Youth of the Year

23 Nov

This years Youth of the Year event was absolutely spectacular.  Our local YOY was held on November 16, 2016 at the Stone House & Co. with over 100 guests in attendance.  Thank you once again to the Uhlig Foundation for sponsoring this event and providing scholarships to both candidates to be used for future educational purposes.  The purpose of the Youth of the Year Program is to recognize the achievements of Club members that have attended the Club for more than two years.  Candidates have to fill out an application packet, write a series of essays, interview with five local judges, and give a three minutes speech.  We had two fantastic young ladies that competed: Eliza Singh and Cassidy Littleton.  Both did a wonderful job and represented their Club well.

We want to congratulate our 2017 YOY winner Cassidy Littleton!  Cassidy received a $2,500 scholarship from the Uhlig Foundation and Eliza received a $1,000 scholarship.

Cassidy will now go onto the State Youth of the Year competition held in Boise, ID at the capital in February 2017 where she will compete against other Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Years’ from around the state of Idaho.  We would also like to thank our judges this year:  Stephanie Hudson, Mayor Shawn Barigar, Adam Hanby, Sherri Ellis, and Janet Smutny.
